Let the blogging begin!

Hello world! Welcome to my blog, Art and Design Musings. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

While my professional life revolves around Excel, Word, and a lot more Excel, I’m not-so-secretly a die-hard design enthusiast. After studying 3-D animation in college, I realized my fascination with design and art and my admiration for people who possess the skills to draw, paint, sketch, design, animate, and just generally CREATE. I love the idea of infusing something commonplace with unexpected and original design.

Beyond basic product design, I’m also always on the look out for interesting digital design – phone apps, digital tools, new uses of social media – and clever, creative marketing campaigns that really jump out from a design standpoint. Here’s one of my favorites from Vantage stain remover for their market in Brazil (I’m telling you, innovation can come from literally anyone, anywhere):

So here I am, basically turning my once weekly “look at this ridiculous [insert product name] design!” email to my artsiest friends into a blog, to spread the love.  Because innovative, fun, wacky, outlandish, creative designs deserve to be admired.

  1. Beautiful salad!
Ah,the world of food–so alluring and seductive! But, oh how I do love the browns and beiges on my plate and the reds, purples, greens, oranges, and blues on my walls and surroundings. The challenge–to internalize my colors and externalize my neutrals. Those neutrals never leave a neutral memory on my middle…sigh…the scourge of the artiste and the conflict of the nutritionist. I knew my worlds could potentially collide, but why oh why could they not just have blended?
